When working with treated timber, a common question arises: Do you need to re-treat cut ends and drilled holes? The answer depends on the specific treatment used. For Wespine H2F timber treated with Koppers Determite or Imports treated with Koppers DetermiteTM or ExtermiteTM, we have good news for our customers.
Wespine Blue, our H2F treated timber using Koppers DetermiteTM or ExtermiteTM, does not require re-treatment of cut ends or drilled holes. This feature saves time and effort during construction, as no additional steps are needed to maintain the timber’s integrity against termite and insect attacks south of the tropic of Capricorn.
It’s important to note that this may not be the case with H2F timber from other suppliers. Many treated wood products do require remedial treatment of cut ends and drilled holes to maintain their protective properties. When using products treated with Koppers DetermiteTM or ExtermiteTM supplied by STAXA, you can proceed with your project confidently, knowing that the entire piece of timber is protected by our comprehensive treatment process backed by Koppers Performance Chemicals’ 25-year conditional warranty.
